Affiliate Disclosure Policy

Affiliate Links & Recommendations

In many of our articles, particularly those focused on gear, we may earn a small commission when readers purchase products through our links.

However, this doesn’t influence which products we include in the articles, and in most cases, our writers are not aware of which brands and products provide us with a sales commission. All products we spotlight are selected for their quality, performance, and overall reputation, regardless of any affiliate relationships.

In fact, a large portion of the gear we suggest comes from small, boutique retailers and manufacturers that produce limited quantities of products and don’t have any affiliate relationships. In our rundowns of top-tier waxed canvas backpacks, or premium hammock underquilts, for instance, you’ll find that most items come from small manufacturers who do not offer us any sales commissions for recommending them.

But, we believe these are some of the finest products available, and thus, we recommend them.

If we receive gear for review directly from brands, it’s disclosed in the review, although most of the gear we field test is purchased. Any brands or products that pay for promotion or advertising on the site are labeled as “Sponsored.”
